Long-distance move from Jonesboro, AR to Jonesboro, IL

Moving from Arkansas to Chicago

Worst moving company, Every single person working at this place is fraud, they are not even a moving company and I only came to know when [NAME EDIT] who is basically a goon from "Platinum shipping" called us but by then we had paid Initial deposit which was non refundable, [NAME EDIT] only took couple times saying that he don't have enough space to fit all our stuff and we need to pay more, we refused , he had no packing material no boxes NOTHING, he wanted CASH NO CARD and Southern don't tell you this so in middle of all my husband had to run to ATM to get money and he left with 25% of our stuff,

we had to find the local mover who was a life saver , [NAME EDIT] broke our washer too, Southern Guarantee should be out of business.

Ben was great

Our move went flawlessly. Ben Mallard our moving coordinator was awesome and made sure we planned everything perfectly. Ben was honest and told us what could and couldn't happen. We were wary because of a past bad experience and he made sure it didn't happen again. Their local agent and their workers were so good and packed everything very well. We had a full pack and unpack and in a 5 bedroom that's not easy. I applaud this company for making us believe in movers again . Call Ben and the guys. Thank you guys!

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Ecorse, MI

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The first agent I spoke to really talked the company up and gave me a decent quote of $1799. I was told that my price wouldn't change and that I was good to go for a March 1st move. I paid a roughly $600 deposit and was assured by Paris that he would be in contact with me the entire process (a lie). The next day I called and spoke to him again because I had left a few significant items off of my inventory, but Paris assured me that everything would be fine, and would not let me tell him the additional items I had.

On 2/23, I received a text from a Mathew asking me to contact them about my final inventory. I provided my final inventory (adding only 5 boxes, a computer chair, and nightstand) and was told my new estimate was going to be much higher and I needed to pay out another $550. Reluctantly I did, even though Mathew insisted the bed frame was not on my inventory (I did tell Paris about it). Again I was told I was good to go for March 1st and I would receive a call the day before.

Today is that day. I called them 3 times today because the carrier had not checked in with me. After speaking to no fewer than 3 people, I was told that my belongings would not be picked up until MARCH 2ND.

I have appointments this week, a rental car reservation, and someone new moving into this apartment on the 1st so this is completely unacceptable. After an hour on the phone and fighting with 3 different people about my pick up date, they were able to find me a truck for the 1st but the damage was already done. This is the ABSOLUTE WORST MOVING COMPANY I'VE EVER DONE BUSINESS WITH. THEY WILL SAY WHATEVER THEY HAVE TO SO YOU'LL SIGN AND ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY THEY COULD CARE LESS WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU OR YOUR BELONGINGS. I AM NOW OUT $1200 AND STILL HAD TO RENT A SELF SERVICE MOVING TRUCK BECAUSE I REFUSE TO GIVE THEM A SINGLE OTHER DOLLAR. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Long-distance move from Layton, UT to Pensacola, FL

Terrible SCAM company- AVOID!

This is a classic bait and switch scam operation! Research common moving scams and you will see Southern Guarantee fits the bill. The short version of my story- I'm moving from UT to FL where my husband is currently stationed with the Navy. I hired what I thought was a moving company- Southern Guarantee to handle my move and found out they are actually a broker and not a moving company. they were supposed to come on 3/2/22 at 7PM to pickup my belongings. They never showed and never communicated with me they were not coming. The lack of communication along with some other red flags I was only now realizing gave me a really bad gut feeling and I started to do further online research into this "moving company" and I found a lot of recent bad reviews, determined all the good reviews were fake, started researching moving scams and decided Southern Guarantee fit the mold for these scams. At this point I didn't know what to do because I had already paid this company $1844 in a deposit for this move and didn't want to be out that money but I did not want to be scammed further. Huge red flag here- I tried to look up my contract/ estimate that had been emailed to me by this company but the link in my email that I had used in the past to access it now went to a page that says "Congratulations on your move on 03/02/2022!! please contact customer service for any questions. So now I can no longer even review what I've agreed to! 7:30 AM 3/3/22 I get a text from the moving dispatch essentially saying my movers arrived at 9PM last night but didn't want to disturb me so can they come at 9AM today? I went back and forth with them a bit trying to determine if they were at all legitimate but ultimately told them I didn't feel comfortable with them handling my move and asked them not to come. About 45 mins later a Ryder moving truck (not the company I thought I hired) shows up and the gentlemen tells me they are here for my move I explain my situation to him tell him I'm sorry his services are no longer required he confirms he does not work for the company I thought would be arriving and confirms he does not know where my stuff would be taken states that sometimes he just takes it to a storage facility it depends on what the dispatch tells him and he does not know anything about what is stated between me and the broker. So again I tell him sorry but I won't be moving any items with them today. Now the dispatcher calls me angry yelling at me about how I could think they are a scam, they are not a scam and wants me to confirm I am cancelling rudely tells me nevermind she has it in the text and hangs up on me. (note they specifically want me to say I am cancelling so they can keep my deposit) I immediately get a call from Southern Guarantee asking what's going on and she's arguing with me that they are not a broker but a moving coordinator and then proceeds to tell me that that contract (which I can no longer access) states that they are a broker and not a moving company a (so basically it's my fault for not reading it, even though the sales reps promised me on the phone they own the trucks) at this point I was positive this was a scam operation and was not going to go any further into it and knew I'd be out my deposit but in the grand scheme of things I was happy to have cut my losses here and still have all my possession and not had to pay them any extra money besides the $1844 I knew i'd been scammed for. And the crazy thing on this call the woman never really tries to dispute the claims I've made about their company but just tells me they are inaccurate and says "the truck is already there so why not move?" as if! So now I will be renting a truck and moving myself- fortunately I am in a position to do this as I'm currently staying with my parents so it is not a big deal if I need to stay here longer and keep my stuff here longer but I can definitely see how it is not as easy for others to back out once they have reached this point. Thoroughly research a company before hiring and don't be fooled by all these fake 5 star reviews. This company has only been in business for a few months and according to FL BBB (call at 561-842-1918 to verify) has several complaints filed against them already. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away from this company!

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Nashville, TN

SCAM

I found souther guarantee by using Google and I got fooled by their good reviews.

When I spoke to an Agent, he asked me to kis ny items, which I did and I even told him how they looked like and their size, his name is Greg and he said he just needed to know amount of items, and estimate of amount of boxes, he NEVER said anything cubic feet, and he gave the whole explanation that his price was not an estimate, that it was a binding agreement for the items listed, so the price would NEVER change unless I added more items. He also said that I could select DELIVERY DATE for when I wanted it, NEVER said an amount of time.

I paid the Deposit because I liked that the price would not change, and the total of the move would be $4,500 and Deposit was $2,600.

A week later, after checking my items better, I noticed I needed to take off some boxes and add some items, so I called them to make sure all the items are listed; the price went up around $600 more and I said ok, fine, It was in that moment around $5,200. NEVER said again about cubic feet, and I explained that it was a 2 bedroom apartment, and I again said the items size and I also had already given address of pick up and address of delivery.

Day of pick up: HORROR STORY STARTS a guy from another company called Map Express Logistics shows up and says that the amount of stuff doesn't match, and I'm like: what do u mean? it's everything listed, exactly how I listed it; He says: no no, cubic feet says 600 and what you have is more like 1100. He leaves for a fee minutes and comes back saying: your new estimate is $10,800 ( it F$%& doubled!!!) and I just started to like cry and scream, I had to even take a walk to calm myself because I noticed how F$%#ed up I was by them, they have you between the knife and the wall basically, options: (this is a STATE MOVE)

1- I cancel, lose my deposit and I have everything boxed and have to give apartment keys that day, how can I get another mover the same day?

2- Pay the $10,800 and just basically give up money so easily and hardly earn

3- Don't pay more, but take off items and just take 600 of cubit feet then

I went for option 3, I told them: let's just not take it all, I'll leave things!; the guy says: oh well if you only take 600 cf then you have to pay shuttle, and with the shuttle it would be $9,800... im like: what? shuttle? why? if you were able to get in here, and he says that things have to be moved from one transport to another, and if I pay the $10,800 then shuttle its for free.

At this point, I'm like, for $1000 less, I was going to leave 1/2 of my apartment behind, I guess lest just freaking do the option 2!

2nd PART of HORROR STORY ohhh guess what? you don't select date of Delivery!, it's up to them, so then I get told it would take 6 to 8 days, and still I'm like sure! paying more money, having to wait more...

8 days pass and I call to see what's happening and I get told from Southern Guarantee: Honey, you just moved! you are the beginning of this, this could take from 21 to 30 Days!!!

I'm like: no one said this before!

Map Express picked up my stuff on 3/11/22 and they arrived yesterday 4/4/22 with my stuff.

3rd part of HORROR STORY having to deal with their horrible customer service, and getting hanged up by a Rep by Southern Guarantee and also getting hanged up by another third party company who did delivery, which I never knew the name of Company because I paid the woman directly Joy, no company name. They both screamed at me and hanged up the phone at me.

I was so traumatized, that by the time of delivery my family and I even helped to unpack all items (when it's part of their price to pack and unpack) because we just wanted to be done with the whole thing.

My carpet cleaner came with a broken wheel and my dryer has dents and a scratch and I still say to myself: there are worse horror stories on Map Logistics Yelp!!!

Don't hire this people!!! I cannot believe there are companies out there like this, it's surreal, I got scammed!

LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE

I COULD MAKE THIS REVIEW VERY LONG BUT I'LL GET TO THE POINT TO SAVE SOMEONE FROM THE MESS I'M DEALING WITH.

If you value your time, money, and belongings, PLEASE do not book with this company.

First of all, know that they are a broker and do not move the items themselves so you honestly have no idea or control over what company will pick up your items until the day they show up.

The salespeople are great at selling you a lie. I told Kayden the contents of my 1 BR. Whatever system they use to gauge the amount of space your stuff takes up is flawed! The company that actually picked up my items basically doubled the estimated cubic footage and I was paying them 40% more than what I was quoted. And this is after re-confirming my items the week of the move.

If they tell you a delivery date, they WILL NOT deliver on that day. I was told my items would be delivered on a day and even set up a time. 1 month later I finally got a call from an independent driver that picked up my things and told me he was hours away. After having to call the subcontracted company every week and them telling me my items had not been picked up yet. Horrible communication from the company.

Finally, my items arrived A MESS. You can see in the pictures that boxes are completely destroyed, vacuum seal bags busted, and the corners of my metal TV console and wooden bar stools are worn. Nothing marked fragile was handled with care and they sent a random man with a truck to drop my items off. I also have to go and clean and sort through a storage unit now due to their carelessness. I'm stressed just thinking about it.

I wish I'd used a pod or honestly even done a uhaul on my own. It would've been $2000 much better spent. PLEASE BEWARE and learn from my mistake.

A scam and unethical company. Stay away

1. The sales person, Chris, who convinced me to contract with your company said they would be available for questions and to assist through the process. This was a lie. After I paid the deposit, they did not answer or return any of my calls.

2. When I called customer service for help, you either did not answer or I talked to someone who did not address the issues I was having with the movers.

3. You contracted out to a company without informing me that you were not the actual movers. You sent people to my house who held my property until I paid over $1000 more than was agreed upon.

4. The mover who came said they worked for a company called Logistic Movers and that the money I paid you for a deposit did not count towards my price. If this was not true, you offered me no support when I called to ask about this.

4. The movers charged me $375 to crate my television without telling me and then my television was returned with only a blanket around it and completely cracked and broken.

5. My furniture was not reassembled upon return as promised in your contract and the screws to my bed are missing.

6. I did not receive any of the updates or phone calls that you promise regarding my delivery and the dates kept changing with no prior notification. At more than one point, I thought I had been scammed and my belongings had been stolen.

You promise a service that you don't deliver. Your customer service is Bahamian non-existent and the way you contract out to unethical businesses and leave the customer with no support is also unethical. I pray that no one has to go through the experience that I have had to go through with your company. It's just not right.

They will charge you almost double upon arrival , or threaten to cancel your delivery .They lost and broke half of my stuff. After contacting them via Email , I received a call from Mr.Anthony, explained the situation and was suppose to hear back from him. Never called back.

BUYER BEWARE: Shattered Belongings and Ever Increasing Costs

After using this company the whole thing seems like a scam. It all started out fine, making my reservation. I was contacted several days prior to my move to confirm the amount of items that I would be moving. As I’m very detail oriented, I provided the gentleman with a detailed list. (By detailed I mean 17 boxes that are 18”x16”x12” and so on and so forth. I had dimensions for every single one of my items. It was well under the space I had reserved: 286 cu ft.) At this point I also updated them with a specific delivery address.

Things started to go downhill when I realized Southern Guarantee isn’t a moving company but is a broker and that a different company, Moving Mania, would be doing my move. They sent me a summary of my order at which point I noticed that they didn’t have the updated delivery address that I had just given to the guy from Southern Guarantee a few days before. I figured it was human error, corrected it, and moved on.

When Moving Mania arrived for the move is when things went from fine to terrible. They eyeballed my stuff and told me that it was 345 cu ft. They got to this number by seeing that some of my boxes said “Medium” on the side and they used a pre-defined number of cu ft for a “Medium” box. Well, my medium boxes were smaller than that, meaning that they were going to charge me for cu ft that I WAS NOT MOVING. I even had all my items neatly stacked in an area that could be easily verified to fit into 286 cu ft, but regardless, after they loaded, they told me that I had to pay an extra $250 or they would unload my goods and I would lose my $500 security deposit. So now, I have no choice but to have them take the goods or I lose my $500 security deposit. Terrible customer service. And of course, both Moving Mania and Southern Comfort point the finger at each other claiming no responsibility themselves.

Then, upon arrival, I was given a window of 1pm - 5pm. When the driver called me at 11am to tell me he was 30 minutes out, I had to inform him that I wasn’t available until 1pm as I had scheduled a house showing at 11:30am. He seemed incredibly put off by that, but agreed.

When they arrived, the first load I saw them unload was a stack of 5 boxes that included a box marked “FRAGILE” and they rolled the dolly right off the edge of the truck and let it DROP to the ground. As you may imagine, most of the boxes were completely destroyed and I have so far found entire glasses shattered. Also, while I luckily received all of my items, I did also receive a box that doesn’t belong to me and they are not answering their customer service phone, so I have no idea how to return it to its rightful owner.

Overall, a terrible experience. Do yourself a favor and rent a U Haul and hire movers for the day. Cheaper and FAR better service.

Long-distance move from Pflugerville, TX to Jefferson City, TN

Theives, Liars, Crooks.

To start, this isn't a moving company, it's a brokerage. They sell your move. After charging big money to make a bid firm, they don't stop the actual movers from ignoring that and extorting more cash out of you. There's NO COVERAGE for damage regardless of what they tell you. They will jerk you around, send you to several different claim companies, none of which are actually insurance companies and none of which can get you paid. This is before the actual movers also screw you over in this fashion. Suing in Florida is a waste, you'll never collect. Put these crooks out of business. They disassembled my $2700 refrigerator for NO Reason (it comes out of the house without this) AND then lost half the parts and left it in pieces in my basement. This is now a total loss. I figure I'm out easily $14K between overcharges, damage, and lost items
